Both are open-gypsy jeep safaris with a trained driver and forest guide. Your gypsy, timing and price depend on the trail you pick.
Core zoneThe classic Gir experience — a 3-hour open-gypsy trail through teak and dhak forest inside the core zone, tracking free-ranging Asiatic lions, leopards, sambar, chital and hundreds of birds along thirteen designated routes.
Interpretation zoneThe Gir Devaliya (Interpretation Zone) — a fenced natural sanctuary a short drive from Sasan, where lions, leopards, nilgai and deer roam free-range terrain. Shorter route, very high sighting certainty; perfect with family and children.
Spread across roughly 1,412 sq km of dry deciduous forest, scrub and grassland in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat, Gir National Park & Wildlife Sanctuary is the last place on Earth where the majestic Asiatic lion (Panthera leo persica) survives in the wild. Declared a sanctuary in 1965, decades of dedicated conservation have grown the population to around 674 lions at the last census.
Beyond its lions, Gir is a complete ecosystem — leopards, striped hyena, jackal, marsh crocodile, chital, sambar, nilgai and more than 300 species of birds share these teak-clad hills, seasonal rivers and rocky ravines. The Kamleshwar reservoir, fed by the region's rivers, is the lifeline that sustains this rich web of life through Gujarat's long dry season.

Prices are per gypsy (not per head) and depend on the safari, gypsy size, nationality and whether it's a weekday or weekend. You pay only the advance online to lock your slot; the balance is paid at the park.

“Total” is the full per-gypsy cost (advance + at-park). The small “adv” figure is what you pay online now; the rest is paid at the park. A camera fee and any government levies, where applicable, are payable directly at the gate. Weekend rates apply on Saturdays, Sundays and notified holidays.

Reporting point: Sinh Sadan Reception Centre, SH 26, Sasan Gir. Reach at least 30 minutes before your slot and carry the same original photo IDs used at booking.

Gir is well connected by road and rail. Sasan Gir has its own small railway station, and the region is an easy drive from Gujarat's major cities.
Nearest airports: Rajkot (~160 km), Diu (~110 km) and Keshod (~90 km). Ahmedabad is the main hub with wide connectivity.
Sasan Gir railway station is on the metre/broad-gauge line; Junagadh and Veraval are the closest major railheads.
Smooth state highways connect Sasan to Junagadh, Veraval, Somnath and beyond. Taxis and buses run regularly.

The park is open from mid-October to mid-June. Each season offers a different experience — here's what to expect.
Cool, pleasant days and comfortable safaris. Lush after the rains, with excellent bird activity and frequent sightings.
Hot and dry — but as water thins out, lions and wildlife gather near waterholes, giving the highest sighting chances.
The core park closes for the monsoon breeding season. Devaliya may operate on a limited basis; check before planning.

Gir Jungle Safari is a core-zone jeep trail for wild, unfenced sightings. Devalia Safari is inside the fenced Interpretation Zone with a shorter route and very high sighting certainty — great for families.
Up to 6 adults (13 years and above) and 1 child (3–12 years) per gypsy. Infants below 3 usually travel free. Larger groups can book multiple gypsies.
Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence, Voter ID, Passport, OCI or School ID. Carry the same original ID on the day of the safari.
November to February is most comfortable; March to mid-June is hot but offers the highest sighting chances near waterholes. The park closes 16 June–15 October.
